Met Gala: TikTok’s Best-Dressed Deserved an Invite

Every year, without fail, I’m glued to my phone for the first Monday in May. Yes, we’re talking about the Met Gala. Do I ever fully grasp the theme? Debatable. But will I be judging like I’m Joan Rivers on Fashion Police? Absolutely.

The Met Gala is the event where celebs serve drama, glamour, and (hopefully) on-theme looks. And while the guest list always stirs up some noise, this year the outrage wasn’t about who got invited, but who didn’t.

Enter Wisdom Kaye.

If you don’t know him, let me catch you up. Dubbed “the best-dressed guy on TikTok” by Vogue, Wisdom has walked for Balmain and Dior, and built a following of over 8 million by turning even the most random trends into haute couture level fashion. He’s not just a TikToker, he’s a style icon in the making.

So when this year’s theme was announced, fans instantly imagined what Wisdom Kaye would wear. But when the night came and he wasn’t on the carpet, despite confirming before the event he wouldn’t attend, social media had questions. And a lot of opinions. “Wisdom Kaye is more fashionable than half the guest list” was the vibe across X and TikTok. And honestly? Kind of valid.

Especially considering the Met has invited influencers before such as Addison Rae, Dixie D’Amelio, Emma Chamberlain (who’s now a correspondent). So why leave out someone whose whole platform is about pushing fashion forward? 

It’s not about stan culture, it’s about recognizing creativity. The Met is supposed to honor bold, artistic style. And in my humble opinion Wisdom Kaye is the embodiment of that.

Maybe it’s politics. Maybe it’s old-school gatekeeping. Either way, the Met missed out this year. If they really want to stay fresh and future-focused, it’s time to put creators like Wisdom Kaye on the guest list.

Until then, I’ll be on my couch, snacks in hand, judging from afar. See you next May.
