Linkedin has long evolved from its overly performative corporate days. When scrolling the app we’re used to reading “I’m so proud to announce”, “I’m excited to share that…” and “I’ve recently accepted”... However, there's a shift happening. Users are exploring a more personable approach to sharing their professional content. We are seeing more story telling, free webinars, and case studies. Part of this change can be attributed to video content that has been gaining traction on the platform. Creators are bringing the IG flair to Linkedin and I’m not mad at it.
According to Tequia Burt, Linkedin's editor in chief “Videos are proven to capture audiences’ attention in their feeds, and that audience is 20x more likely to share them than any other type of post. It’s also an important strategy for engaging C-suite decision-makers and senior influencers, and LinkedIn is fast becoming one of this group’s most trusted sources of video content”
This is where personal branding comes into play. Companies look at you as a brand therefore marketing yourself by sharing your experiences and insights through personable content with your linkedin community can set you apart from others. Using videos to speak directly to your audience can help build a relationship of trust and help you engage in ways that text simply can not.
When planning your next post, remember that your next client or brand partnership is on Linkedin, what do you want them to see when they stop on your profile?
